Chris Phillips
1997-98 Ottawa Senators Home Jersey - Set 1
This jersey was worn by Chris Phillips of the Ottawa Senators during the 1997-98 season, his rookie year. Phillips began his NHL career wearing #5 for the Senators, and ended up wearing that number in 19 games (12 home, 7 road) between October 1 and November 22, 1997. Sean Hill, who had been wearing #4 for the Senators that season, was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on November 17, 1997. After the trade, Phillips switched to the #4 that he would end up wearing for 1160 games with the Senators. Phillips would go on to set the Senators franchise record for career games played and would have his #4 retired by the Senators on February 18, 2020.
This jersey has board burns on both sleeves, two team repairs, unrepaired holes, interior pilling and interior 1997-98 tagging. It appears that the jersey has a restored nameplate after the jersey's original nameplate was likely stripped by the team after Phillips changed numbers.
